Overview Remote Medical Coder Multispecialty Outpatient. Job involves multispecialty surgical coding with focus on accurate ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding, and regulatory compliance. Full-time, 100% remote. Base pay $46,000.00/yr - $76,000.00/yr What You Will Do Demonstrates the ability to perform quality E/M coding and surgical coding on assigned encounters as appropriate. Maintain working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third-party requirements regarding documentation and billing. Ensure all services documented are coded with appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes; obtain proper documentation when necessary according to facility standards. Aim for 97% accuracy in coding while maintaining productivity; accuracy monitored through monthly reviews. Maintain productivity standards and manage review queues daily; communicate corrections to the facility as needed. Correct and communicate re-bills to the facility daily per policy. Report coder downtime to administrative staff to ensure turnaround times. Collaborate with IQC staff to uphold quality standards for each facility. Provide accurate answers to coding and/or billing questions within eight hours of request. Code or pending every chart placed in queue within 24 hours; notify administration if the 24-hour target cannot be met. Check Guidehouse email system at least every two hours during coding sessions. Maintain current professional credentials and stay familiar with the Guidehouse coding website as daily tools. Maintain HIPAA-compliant workstations and adhere to coding division policy and procedure manuals. Collaborate with the facility coding and billing teams to maximize efficiency and reimbursement for properly documented services; raise coding principle discrepancies to supervision as needed. Maintain professional email communications according to policy. What You Will Need High School Diploma/GED One of: CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification Successful completion of a formal training course beyond apprentice level for medical technicians or equivalent EMR experience Must maintain credential throughout employment What Would Be Nice To Have Additional E/M coding certifications such as CEMC or CEMA Ability to work independently, multi-task, and interface with all levels of personnel Knowledge of Federal & State Coding regulations and guidelines, including DHA or Military Health Coding experience Experience with multiple EMR and/or Practice Management systems Single-path coding experience What We Offer Guidehouse offers a comprehensive, total rewards package that includes competitive compensation and a flexible benefits package that reflects our commitment to a diverse and supportive workplace.
